ONTARIO -- Chaffey rushed for 336 yards, led by senior Chris Jones, on its way to a 42-6 win over Ganesha in a nonleague game Friday night at Chaffey.

Jones had 170 yards on 17 carries and 128 yards in kick returns. Senior Mitchell Hall added 86 yards and junior fullback Joe Armenta powered his way through the Ganesha defense for 46.

Not only did the Tigers run the ball well, their defense held the Giants to 159 yards of total offense. The Tiger defense had five sacks, three fumble recoveries and an interception.

"They're defense is like Nebraska's," said Giant coach Ken Cohen. "They bring everybody."

Giant quarterback Jason Romero was under heavy pressure on every pass attempt. He ended the game 2 of 13 passing for 71 yards and one touchdown.

The Tigers started their flurry of first-quarter scoring when Jones took the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. He followed that with a 9-yard touchdown run with 7:10 to play in the quarter.

The third score for the Tigers in the first quarter came by way of a 1-yard touchdown dive by junior quarterback Jared Goldstein. The Tigers were not finished in the first, adding a 35-yard scoring run from Hall.

Ganesha scored only once. That came late in the second quarter as Terral Taylor caught a 48-yard pass from Romero for a touchdown.

The only two scores of the second half came on a 3-yard run by Jones with 6:35 to play in the third and an 8-yard run by Armenta in the fourth.

Tiger coach Bart Goldstein was pleased with the effort.

"A lot of players came up big tonight," he said.

The Tigers are at home against Chino next week, a matchup of two 3-0 teams.

"I expect a great game," Goldstein said. "We should have (senior quarterback Marshall Turner) back so we'll be able to enter the game with some passing."

Ganesha fell to 0-3 and will play Covina next week.

"We've played the toughest preseason of any team this year," Cohen said of his Giants. "We will come back, regroup and work on some blocking this week."
