Saturday, November 9:
6:30 AM: Meet at the 5th Street Parking Lot.
7:00 AM: Depart
Lenwood Exit - Barstow: McDonalds snack, potty.
Stop 1: Pisgah Volcano.
Explore basaltic volcanic features including a lava tube.
Bring daypack with flashlight, journal, water, hat, sunglasses sunscreen..
Lunch at Pisgah.
Stop 2. Marble Mountains.
The Craton (1.4 Ga rocks!!),The Great Unconformity, Paleozoic Sediments
and Trilobites.
Bring daypack, water, snacks, baggies, rock hammer, hat, sunscreen.
Stop 3: Hole-in-the-Wall Campground.
set up camp.
8:00 PM: Group Meeting. |
Sunday, November 10:
6:30 AM: Wake up.
8:00 AM: Depart. Bring pack with lunch, water, journal.
Stop 1: Mitchell Caverns
Lunch.
Stop 2: Kelso Dunes.
6:00 PM: Arrive Hole-in-the-Wall Campground.
8:00 PM: Group Meeting |
Monday, November 11:
6:30 AM: Wake Up and breakfast.
8:00 AM: Pack up.
Stops: TBA
Lenwood. In-n-Out, food and call home with arrival time. |
Gear:
Journal, clipboard, Water bottle 1 quart (full), pencil, tent, stakes, rock
hammer, warm clothes, rain gear, flashlight, Food (Saturday L, D; Sunday: B,
L, D; Monday: B, L), baggies for Trilobites, WARM sleeping bag, marking pen
(Sharpie).
Please pack efficiently. Water and outhouses available at camp. Pack food
in boxes, no bags. Pack everything else in duffle bag. Do not bring illegal
substances. Do not bring radios, tape players or cell phones. For a complete
list of what to bring, see NESC Gear List. It can be windy and cold at Hole
in the Wall. Pack a separate lunch for Saturday and Sunday. |
