Letter from the Editors

Kids, pachucos, skaters, intellectuals, rebels, artists, punks, and all the other diverse students that make Chaffey an outstanding, original school:

You now hold in your hands the first issue of the Tiger Rag of the 98/99 school year. Treasure it, because one day some of these names may be published in a big time magazine or newspaper. Treasure it if you are a freshman, because it's the first issue of your high school career. Treasure it if you're a senior; it's the first issue of your high school's newspaper for your graduating year. I know Rickie and I will.

The freedom of summer is over, and we all are going through withdraws (students, as well as staff). But the important thing to remember in this time of despair is that we should hold on to these familiar surroundings and people as long as possible because it's a BIG world outside this campus! Yeah sure, Chaffey may seem large to newcomers, but it's rather small to those of us who have been here four years, and we have grown anxious to get out into the world full of overly priced books, financial aid, and unfamiliarity.

SENIORS: We've survived eleven years of screaming teachers, books, heavy backpacks, and cramped desks (which, by the way, would never save us in the case of an earthquake), so don't give up now! Nine more months is nothing compared to the last eleven years, and this is our senior year--when we are attempting to leave a forever mark here at Chaffey so that future generations will know how fine '99 was! So stick with it for this one last time; make unforgettable memories and stay in school.

**Feel free to submit any material you would like to see printed in the Tiger Rag: poems, stories, interesting articles, editorials…don't limit yourself. See your work printed. As a part of our individuality and liberty of expression the Tiger Rag will strive to bring you (in representation of our generation) an excellent year to come. Take this time to not only recognize the stories involving your fellow peers, but most importantly, take the time to read and enlighten yourself to the changing world that parades around us.
