| Pasadena - Don Morris of Shell Beach, Chaffey graduating
class of 1948, won three medals at the California State Senior Olympic
Championships in the 65 to 69 age group held this summer.
Morris took a gold medal when his team, the SLO Town, California All Stars,
won the men's 65-70 three-on-three basketball title. The team, made up of Harry
Lund, Doug Jones, Royd Shumway, Don Morris, Conrad Bohnan, and Bill Smitheran,
went undefeated in the competition.
| Morris also won bronze medals in free-throw shooting and spot
shooting, making 80 percent from the free-throw line and65 percent from just
inside the three-point line.
By winning a gold medal, they qualified for the national Senior Olympics in
Orlando, Florida in October 1999. |
