Welcome Assembly Packs the House

by Brenda Barrios, Graphic Editor The assembly held on September 11 to welcome all students was a success. Amanda Marquez (99), ASB President, initiated the assembly by welcoming the classes of 1999 to 2002. Following her welcome were introductions: Officer Paul Graff, Dean Evan Sternard, and counselors, who presented the ASB officers and foreign exchange students.

Principal Jim Brodie was later introduced by Amanda Marquez; he welcomed the future classes and introduced the administrators.

The audience was able to interact with the people on stage by providing comments about the topic that was being discussed. Students could talk into microphones, held by assistants, "David and David," to express their opinions.

Athletes proudly stood and cheered as Brodie mentioned the sports that they are involved in. The Pep Squad and their Captain, Brigette Fehlman (99), performed for the crowd.

The assembly ended with a slide show of the previous year, which recognized sports, rallies, and teachers as well. The slide show is a traditional way to end the Welcoming Assembly.
