Students took
their seats in Gardner Spring Auditorium for the briefing on what was going to
take place. People on the stage were having their make-up done. Not the kind that
gets taken away from girls in Spanish class; this was real Hollywood special
effects make-up being applied by professionals. To the unknowing eye, the
Students were first divided into groups determining who would run, who
would remain catatonic, who would die, and who would become long-term hostages. Once this was accomplished, students were
given 30 seconds to look at the eight henchmen and women before taking their
places.
Shortly afterwards, an explosion was heard on the grounds followed by
several gunshots. People on stage began dropping from shotgun wounds to the stomach and head, fake blood flowing onto
white t-shirts.
Approximately 30 students jumped out of their seats and performed what looked like circus
acrobatics in order to all get through one door, all of them screaming for
their lives.
A hostile voice coming from behind and above the front row commanded them not to turn around. Suddenly, there they were, dressed
in black, some in trench coats, all carrying guns. Students looked to their
upper left and right. The assailants were all around them, surrounding
them, with guns aimed to shoot.
The assailants began shouting at students, telling them to put their hands on their heads and
“Stand up!”, “Sit down!”, and basically be their puppets in fear. The students then sat and listened to how
horrible their lives were and how they deserved to die. Students were at a mock
honors assembly when they were attacked, so the assailants kept going on about
how their privileges had now cursed them.
They began asking the students questions, but all were afraid to answer.
When students started crying they were told to shut up.
For fear of
the approaching SWAT team, the armed students informed their hostages that
there was a bomb attached to every door and moved them to the back of the
auditorium.
