The
holidays are just around the corner, and we’ve got everything to be thankful
for: our health, family, friends, and general well being. It’s a time to
be joyful (even for those of you who are always complaining about life)
and to enjoy life to its fullest, because if we’ve made it this far, it
has to be for a good reason. Pretty soon we will begin a new year full
of renewed hope and unlimited possibilities; although now, as busy people
of the 90’s, we tend to forget the precious gift of life and focus instead
only on the material things we desire and can’t obtain. |
Memories are the only thing that will take us back to the past. For this reason,
we decided to include our baby pictures in this month’s Tiger
Rag. These early artifacts of life were so quickly outgrown, yet we’ve
accomplished so much since.
Although I was too young to recollect exactly what happened to me as a child, my
mother says that on one occasion, I was about to die from dengue fever,
an infectious disease that causes high fevers and death. I thank my creator
for allowing me a second chance to live, because without it I would have
never grown up to see and enjoy life’s good and bad times.
Although I have never experienced a time when my life was at stake, I’m grateful
for having the opportunity to live without the worries many I know have
had to go through. I find that lots of things have changed through-out
the years, but we’ve hung in there through thick and thin, and that takes
guts.
We can all be grateful simply for being alive and because we are fortunate enough to
live in a country where the government cares for the well being of its
people. We leave you with one piece of invaluable advice: remind your parents
to take the giblets out of the turkey before diving into your Thanksgiving
Day meal.
