Chaffey Rocks District with Amazing AP Test
Scores
By Jennifer Ruiz, Assistant Editor

Long days and nights studying
for tests, three hours of sleep, tons of homework, study sessions after
school AND on Saturdays. Who would do this? Chaffey’s AP students did,
and all their hard work paid off. Chaffey got the second highest AP test
scores in the district. The only school who surpassed them was Rancho Cucamonga.
A celebration was held to acknowledge teachers, students, and everyone
else responsible for Chaffey’s success.
One hundred and forty-one Chaffey
students took the AP test second semester last year. Sixty-nine percent
of them passed. Other schools, such as Alta Loma, could only boast a 51%
success rate.
Chaffey
students have proven themselves as smart students. CHS had the best
overall scores in three subjects: calculus, European history, and Spanish.
Calculus
students received an extraordinary 76% passing rate,
while RCHS earned a mere 60%. European history students also accom-plished
an astounding feat: an 81% passing rate. Spanish Language got a near perfect
score of 97%. But the best score Chaffey earned was a 100% passing score
by the Spanish Literature class. This is remarkable and shows the ability
of Chaffey’s AP students.
How
did CHS students get such great scores? Most attribute their success to
freshman and sophomore Honors teachers. John Vasquez (00) enthusiastically
exclaimed, “Chaffey is an academic force to be reckoned with!” Assistant
Principal Ann Kunze explained, “It takes a lot of tenacity
to be willing to give up a lot of your time to get ahead in school.”
Hopes
are already set high for students to reach these heights once again. As
a result, students are already preparing feverishly for this year’s AP
tests in May.
