Newspaper Staff Conducts Food Tasting
By Adelita Romero, Editor
On November 19, the Tiger Rag newspaper staff had the opportunity to perform a taste test for the benefit of CHS' students. The event took place in the cafeteria, where Mrs.
Affatati, director of food and nutrition services, provided a variety food products to sample. After each item was tasted, the group voiced their opinions as to flavor and value based on the estimated price of the product. At the very end, the staff voted on the best samples overall in the hope that the entire student body would soon enjoy them as well. |

Mrs. Affatati is always trying to please the students and cares about what they like to eat. The best way to find out what foods are most popular is by conducting taste tests with students themselves. She hopes to have more tests in the future, since her main goal is to keep students happy. Besides that, "I enjoy being with the kids," she says. |

Hotel Management Academy Paves Way to Success
By Krystal Reyes, Staff Writer
College credit and training for a possible future career? Sounds like a good deal, right? Chaffey students are able to obtain these benefits by joining the Hotel Management Academy (HMA).
This program allows students to learn skills needed to work at and manage a hotel. Teacher Mrs. Alikhani states, "The Hotel Management Academy is a sequence of classes that students begin their sophomore year. They are elective classes that focus on hotel management."
Students sign up their freshman year and begin to study hotel management the following year. This year there is a special section tied to English classes, where hotel management skills may be taught in conjunction with English, in a class called Academy English.
"In class if students are studying Macbeth, a lesson may be whether or not Macbeth would make a good hotel manager," explained Ms. Guilfoyle.
The HMA program consists of 7 courses: Keyboarding, Computer Applications, Presentation Skills, Career Planning, Academy Accounting, |
