It's a Wonderful Life
By Jessica Moreno, Staff Writer & Christy Roberts, Feature Editor

What is it like to perform on a live radio show? Mr. Tom Mazur conducted the music for a live reproduction of the original radio show It's A Wonderful Life on Friday, December 10. The show aired during the Mark and Brian Show on 95.5 KLOS and included performances by actors Kevin Pollack, Garry Marshall, Judd Nelson, Dana Delany, Joe Montegna, and Jess Harnell as the voices of the various characters.

Everybody practiced and prepared their part, and came together with little rehearsal and performed beautifully. Mr. Mazur shared, "It's a great deal of fun for me, because I enjoy Mark and Brian, and it is exciting to work with the big names."

Mr. Mazur was the person responsible for making sure the music was appropriate for each scene, timed perfectly, and that the music was at the right speed. He provided music stands for the musicians and the scripts for the actors. Amazingly, the actors signed the stands at the end of the show.

A friend of Mr. Mazur, Jess Harnell, is the voice of Roger Rabbit and Wacko in Animaniacs. He shared, "If Tom needs me to come down and do something, I'll do it because I love Tom." He also advises people to "always develop your gifts."

The Other Winter Fling
By Jessica Moreno, Staff Writer
Students from various schools joined Chaffey students for a holiday performance to be remembered. Fifth period classes had the opportunity to hear the Chaffey Symphony Orchestra and the Festival Choir perform Handel's Messiah and to learn a little about the music and its composer on Thursday, December 16.

Kimberly Fernandez (01) warns up her violin
and the audience with her vibrant smile.

Several pieces featured student and staff soloists Bernardo Velazquez (00), Miguel Flores (00), Mr. Harms, Ofa Fakatoumafi (01), Mrs. Guilfoyle, and Della Duran (01). It was hard work, but each person sang beautifully. Nizhoni Chow (00) commented, "The Messiah brought the Christmas spirit into my heart.

Approximately 15 classes attended the concert, and the audience seemed to like it. Mary Jane Duarte (00) explained, "It was beautiful, and the chamber singers were really good, but some of the audience was rude." Additionally, the group performed the Messiah two more times. One performance at Montclair High was similar to the concert given on the 16th. However, both of these concerts were a shortened version of the main performance on December 18th. All three performances went very well. Sabrina Smoll (01) shared, "I'm proud to say I was a part of it."
