Advice Giver

By Brenda Barrios, Graphics Editor

Dear Brenda,
My problem is that I'm an 18-year-old Chaffey High School student, and I'm pregnant. My parents don't know that I am, and I'm scared that they will kick me out of the house and disown me. I'm very happy that I'm having this baby, because I always wanted one of my own. Things will be different now that I'm going to have a kid. I'm going to have to work hard, and so will my boyfriend. Everything is practically well-planned. My only fear now is what my parents' reaction will be. Brenda, please help me. What can I do to solve my problem? Can you anticipate my parents' reaction?
Sincerely,
Seeking Help

Dear Seeking Help,
The best advice that I can give you is to confess. Let your parents know what is going on. Don't hide or run away from the situation no matter how tough it might be. Always speak the simple truth. Your parents might be infuriated, disappointed, confused, or a mixture of all these feelings, but a good parent is one who will always be there for you, through thick and thin. Think positively, and hopefully everything will turn out all right.
Sincerely,
