Creative Ways to Say, “I love You”
By Krystal Reyes, Staff Writer

You’re standing on the lawn of her house at 9:00 p.m.., singing New Kids on the Block’s “I’ll Be Loving You Forever,” and all you’re wearing is a pair of heart-speckled skivvies… when her father walks out.  Then you have to make a run for it before you can explain. There must be better ways to say, “I love you” without the risk of losing your life.

With Valentine’s Day here, love is in the air, and it’s the perfect time to tell that special someone how you feel.

So before you run out to buy that adorable  stuffed animal, take a look at some of these ideas to make it special, not a spectacle.

© Take a tape recorder, and with your song playing in the background, confess your heart and feelings. End by saying, “I love you.”

© If you’re a little shy, make a list on a decorated piece of paper of all the reasons you love him or her.

© Get a shirt embroidered that says, “I love           .”  Fill in the blank with his or her name, and wear it to school on days when they’ll least expect it.

© Bake some cupcakes, and use icing to write “I love ________,” again filling in the blank with his or her name.  Then pass them out to your friends.

© Record a home video confession of your feelings.

© Write a dorky song or poem and go somewhere special.  Sing or recite it, no matter how embarrassed you are. Remember, you should feel comfortable around someone you love.

© Create a scavenger hunt. Be elaborate,  and in the end make yourself the final prize.

© Find out all your sweetie’s classes and seats.  Either arrange to have someone place a rose on his or her desk each period, or do it yourself.

Of course if you just want to keep it simple, you can always just look into their eyes and say, “I love you.”  But if you do decide to be creative, hopefully some of these ideas will inspire you.   Have fun, all you lovebirds.
