Staff News:
Many thanks to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and support for Quinn, Olivia, and me and all of the men and women in the U.S. military. It is a trying time for all of us, our family appreciates your thoughtfulness. Quinn is still currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, I will keep you posted on his status. STRS Individual Counseling Interviews
STRS Individual Counseling Interviews will be held at the District Office March 26, 27, & 28, 2003. Certificated employees who are thing about retirement are encouraged to schedule a confidential interview with an STRS Retirement Technician to discuss their STRS benefits. To schedule an appointment, contact Julie Miller in the Personnel Office at ext.2663.

INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS NOTES
March 17 through March 21, 2003
This week’s focus: English – Reading Comprehension: Distinguishing Fact from Opinion on Monday, Reading Comprehension Maintenance Tuesday, Reading Comprehension: Finding the Implied Main Idea on Wednesday and Thursday, and Reading Comprehension Assessment on Friday.
Mathematics – G8 (Finding the length of aside of a polygon) on Monday, G9 (Using the Pythagorean Theorem) on Tuesday and Wednesday, Assessment G5-10 on Thursday, and Maintenance 21 on Friday.

· 4 Weeks until STAR!!! The time sure flies when you are having a good time. More than 50% of our API comes from English testing; we will be starting our STAR testing in the English classrooms. Due to the shift to California Standards testing, all of the testing will take place in the content classrooms. I will give you an update at the next staff meeting.
