Meaning of ONTARIO George Chaffey grew up along side the water in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where the St. Lawrence River, with its Thousand Islands, begins to open up into Lake Ontario.  "Ontario" itself comes from an Iroquois word for "sparkling water."	Euclid Avenue and B Street.
