Presented here is a copy of the text and original pictures taken from a
brochure, or pamphlet, or booklet that is now owned by the CHS Web
Site. It was published
in 1910. The copy we
have was mailed to Mrs. Sarah E. Allee, Cloverdale, Indiana in
December 1910. The
postmark date, with postage stamp removed, is discernable only as to
a date between the twentieth and twenty-ninth of December 1910,
postmarked at 3:00 PM. It
appears to have been mailed by W. F. Sandy (possibly: N
F Sandy). It was sent first class and noted at the bottom center
with "Pict_" (sic),
pictures. |
There are a few errors in the text. (We
did not reproduce
the typesetting glitches.) We have left the text "as is" but
only made some minor changes in the original format, or display.
There are twenty pages, besides the cover, which are triple-stapled
to an envelope-type cover, which is part of the document ready for
mailing. The upper edge of
the external "envelope" is creased and heavily worn (See
background, wallpaper on Page). Otherwise,
the seventeen pictures on semi-glossy paper are well preserved.
However, the yellowing of age is noticeable and it is intentionally
preserved by our scanning with "millions of colors" instead of
"sharp black and white."

PACIFIC ELECTRIC HEATING COMPANY'S PLANT,
WHERE ELECTRIC FLAT IRONS ARE MANUFACTURED
(7.75
" X
3.5")
The original caption under each picture has been kept.
However, we have added in parentheses the actual dimensions of each
picture as printed. Except
for some "contrasting" and "brightness" adjustments,
the pictures are reproduced as is, showing borders, creases and some
melding of two or more pictures into one (See Euclid Avenue
Picture, melded from three pictures).
The inside of the envelope shows a rather crude, hand drawn map
"SCALED 10 MILES TO ONE
INCH."
This brochure is an obvious advertisement to be sent "back
East" promoting the Ontario Model Colony.
It seems to have been authored by the then newly formed Ontario
Chamber of Commerce, which, however, is referred to in the third person in
the last paragraph.
