Army and Navy Game
On November 15 the Army and Navy team of San Diego made the long trip
to Chaffey. This game was the first one after a three weeks' rest and the
result was a very ragged game. Just the same, Chaffey won, as they always
do. The touchdowns were made and each goal converted. From what the players
said, it was the hardest game of the season, for eve3ryone had gone stale
from lack of something to do in the previous three weeks.
In this game, Chaffey ran up against the "All Star" center and quarterback.
It seemed to the Army and Navy bunch that the game was won before it even
began, but they soon found out their mistake. The score was 14-0.
The Army and Navy game closed the long and successful season of 1913.
Chaffey was now pronounced the Champion of the State of California.
Spaulding Bros. sent a magnificent trophy as a prize for the championship.
