Join us in celebrating the historic purchase of Captain Joseph Garcia's ranch by William and George Chaffey on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1881. The House was the site of many innovations, including the first hydroelectrically powered light and the area's first long distance telephone line.

Tour the second oldest house in Rancho Cucamonga and learn about the early days in Etiwanda.

OPEN HOUSE LETTER

Etiwanda Historical Society Home Page
October 16, 1999

Dear Friends,

Our Seventh Annual Open House is quickly approaching, and we are once again pleased to announce that one of our talented members has donated a beautiful quilted "Country Cottages" wall hanging for an opportunity drawing. The lucky winner will be announced at 3:00 p.m. at the Open House on Saturday, November 20th.

This is our biggest "Friend-Raising" event of the year. We have many exciting things planned; demonstrators of weaving, spinning, butter churning, candle making, a blacksmith, petting zoo, an antique toy collection, and chuck wagon stew! Magician Joe Garcia will perform at 11:30 a.m., and Chicken Charlie's California Minstrel will be singing throughout the day. George Chaffey's descendants will be our honored guests.

Your support is greatly needed. Proceeds from this event will be used to preserve Etiwanda's history. Hope to see you at the Seventh Annual Open House!

Sincerely,

Carolyn Holke

President
