LARYNGECTOMY

Individuals who have had laryngectomies due to throat cancer speak to students about the dangers of tobacco use and the impact such use has had on their lives.   Students often feel that cancer could not happen to them.   Many have never met a cancer patient and few can identify with the horrors of tobacco use.   Because the media has had such an impact on the youth today, often it is the particularly unique which catches their attention.   It is difficult to ignore this presentation.   Students will then be recruited for cessation groups following the presentation.
